Facebook Changes Face For Better! Tabs Dominate The Controll

I was browsing through the profile previews of upcoming facebook interface changes. Few things I really liked even digging any further. Your profile will be presented in five separate tabs: Feed, Info, Wall, Photos, and Applications. And if the new screen captures are anything to go by, you will be able to add more tabs. (There is a plus sign at the end of tabs.)
Applications! Yes Applications will have their own tab under your profile! No of those cluttered applications! Photo tab is not much different from what you are used to.
Feed Tab is the Holy Ann! It will contain your recent activity, including stories about actions you have taken, content that you have uploaded and wall postings by your friends and visitors. You can change the view only to show the wall postings, if you want to and switch back to normal view. The new Publisher box withn Feed Tab has a few tabs of it's own and they will not only allows your friends to add wall posts and links to your profile, but it also enables you to add content to your own profile. This is the place where you upload photos, video, notes, links, and posts on your own wall. I think this is one of the best improvements as having to upload all of these different types of content in different places can be difficult and prevent many people from doing so. Now you can upload photos, video, notes, links, related to a wall post from the same place.

British Big Brother Is Expanding Databases To Include, Email, Phone Calls, and Time Spent On Internet Of British Citizens.

Draconian trends of British are resurfacing after being dormant for few years after the sun set on the empire. These used to be pointed at colonies and their people all over the world. Now these are being deployed at home islands according this report by Times of London.
" A massive government database holding details of every phone call, e-mail and time spent on the internet by the public is being planned as part of the fight against crime and terrorism. Internet service providers (ISPs) and telecoms companies would hand over the records to the Home Office under plans put forward by officials."

David Davis, the Shadow Home Secretary, said: “Given [ministers’] appalling record at maintaining the integrity of databases holding people’s sensitive data, this could well be more of a threat to our security, than a support.”

The proposal has emerged as part of plans to implement an EU directive developed after the July 7 bombings to bring uniformity of record-keeping. Since last October telecoms companies have been required to keep records of phone calls and text messages for 12 months. That requirement is to be extended to internet, e-mail and voice-over-internet use and included in a Communications Data Bill.

Good now bad people only have to flood British email accounts with junk to bring down the government! Since NHS data also in the mix just a plain Bobby might be able to tell you the size of you testes as well.

Google Friend Connect Brings OpenSocial, Social Networking To Any Site Without Programming.

We all create websites wishing to attract visitors. Some may have millions of pageviews and yet only will have only a few hundred pageviews a day. facebook CTO, D' Angelo Leaves facebook.

According to two articles published almost simultaneously, facebook CTO is leaving due to personal reasons and some corporate reasons.
D' Angelo has been one of the facebook founders and played a big part in it since inception. Burnout seem to be the case and even if it is not the case, he should be able to find another place once he cools down.
Here are the articles I mentioned.

Is Washington Post a door of a public toilet stall?

This post on CNET's News Blog is telling us that If Jim Brady had his way, there would be no guaranteed anonymity for those who post comments to Washingtonpost.com. If you still continue to read (I am not putting down, the blogs author) you will realize that Brady mentioned at one point; "that many of the posts weren't comments at all, but the kind of thing "you might find carved on the door of a public toilet stall."" So Brady, does the shoe fits you! If so wear it!
Too bad washingtonpost site had some good blogs that USED to read, I think I will come back when Barady is gone! Why you may ask and my answer would be, for one thing I respect free speech and I also respect Brady's right to do what ever he wants to do with his site. But I will not give my credit card number so that I can leave a comment! If I am not allowed to express my ideas, there is no use reading. There are plenty of other places where I could spend my time.
Anyway I really really do not like going to public toilet stalls!

Holocaust, Something Need To Remember

Yom HaShoah, and Yad Vashem, something we all should remember to refer to when we look down at other people. I was lucky (or unlucky, depending on how you look at it) to have my grand father explain the this part of the world war to me, because he was so near the happenings, I learned from first hand experience. But today some times I feel that we have forgotten or we tend to forget this horrible part of the past. We all should, as Elie Wiesel said in his speech at the opening of the museum: "If we decided to tell the tale, it is because we wanted the world to be a better world, just a better world, and learn and remember."

Social Explorers Are Not Main Stream?

I came across this post via scobleizer and I read it in a gulp. Once I read it only I realized that not that many people socialize online, (I don't!!) but why?
"Some people only want to engage in conversation with people they know in real life and can go out and do things with and that makes sense because that’s how things have been forever. Naturally people tend to approach new things with caution and any skepticism may prevent them from trying it out. Another problem is that it really does take a decent amount of time investment before things ever get interesting on FriendFeed, Twitter, blogging etc. and most people are used to shooting the shit with their roommate, classmate, family and experiencing immediate feedback. "
Again, it becomes easier if you are the star, just like in real world, to indulge yourself. Once we have time to socialize on the net first we tend to give time to our close ones first and then with time left we look around. That is exactly how I found Julian's article, by visiting Scobleizer! Socializing online takes more time than in real world, to build friendships, trust and the need.
Julian the author promised to follow up the article with another.

As promised he followed up and the ideas from second article are in practice today to tutor children in third world. I am involved in one such and will be writing about it soon.
