The company says the patent covers adding friends, personalizing a profile through arranging, ordering and classifying connections made in an online community, and managing these connections at will.
The new patent, Patent No. 7,188,153 B2, is the third to be granted in the past nine months to San Francisco-based Friendster, a pioneer in social networking with 40 million users that has seen its growth falter in comparison to rivals MySpace and Facebook.
